Freud was essentially a druggie. Read his paper "On Coca" he would
give his patients cocaine (as well as wine and cheese) and take it
himself as well to "open things up" Later he would use morphine and opium
to treat his rotten gangreious jaw, which stunk so bad, his dog would
no longer go near him. In the end, he sought enough drugs to kill
himself. What a guy.

This is so much fucking easier to understand than my teacher explaining it
matjesworld (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Freud himself once said: "The civilized society is perpetually menaced with disintegration through this primary hostility of men towards one another." - There is not really more to analyze.

@newfan7- Facts NOT speculative? - OK, if u mean RELATIVELY speaking. QtmPhz sez *FACT*=our highest level of confidence @ this time & Hstry shows this true.
U shuda sed DEMONSTRABLE insead of "OBSERVABLE", [ NONmaterials hard to see or measure].
To some people, FACT is what they'been told by Superiors/Experts/Etc- and that works 2 sometimes.
Facts indicate some people SHOULDN"T analyse ANYTHING & history shows that others have derived benifits thur scientific delving. Each can choose .

@isaysee:
Facts are something that can be observed and which is not speculative. So tell me how do you measure teh unconscious? It's only a hypothesis but what are the facts psychoanalysis is based on? I guess the base on which it is founded are the thoughts of Freud and nothing else. But these thoughts aren't unconscious of course. Well you can say the reason of phenomenon is a foreign and concious but destructive will which had caused some trouble in the patients mind. - So what?!
isaysee (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@newfan7- SCIENCE>derived frm Latn SCIENTIA=KNOWLEDGE. U use phrase "A SCIENCE" in deified way. Seems ur say'n FACTS r based on FACTS. AnyHOO, "not a science" isn't my issue. There are zillions of things that Psy'An isn't- but it's diffinately "A PROCESS". You don't like findings of others? - OK- draw own conclusions &/or methods. - You've proved the nonexistence of "UNCONCIOUS"? - The world is waiting to hear. You think Freud in error?- Correct or ignore him. Freud is Freud- Process is procs |
