Watch this elephant paint a beautiful image of an elephant holding a flower. You'll be amazed at how her talent unfolds as she carefully completes each stroke. Her mahout talks to her throughout the process as his gentle touch gives her confidence. She focuses on her work and seems to enjoy the approval of the audience and, of course, the sugar cane and banana treats. All of her training has been reward based. So touched by their horrific backgrounds and loving personalities, ExoticWorldGifts.com now supports, "Starving Elephant Artisans" by selling their paintings so they can continue to have a new life in Thailand. Own a print of the art for $15. Some Thai elephant experts believe that the survival of the Asian elephant species will most likely depend on the good treatment of the elephants in well managed privately owned elephant camps. All of us would prefer that all of the elephants be free to be in the wild. For many reasons, that is not possible at this time. You can learn more and purchase these unique paintings at http://www.ExoticWorldGifts.co...

My Design Methodology professor asked us last month, "If an elephant paints a picture, is it art". We all answered no, he doesn't know what he's doing, therefor not intentional and with meaning, therefor not art. I've been proven sorely wrong. I have lost the game.

@inspirationzinc Because god forbid we ever accept maybe we aren't the only Sentient creatures on the planet. Some day, An elephant is just gonna be like "Listen, Vote for a real Elephant for president, Ill show you mother fuckers how its done" And everyone will laugh and think "Thats a neat trick" and the elephant will kill us all.

This isn't fake, but neither is it real, at least not in the sense that the elephant "creates" the painting using mental abstraction (as humans do). The animal has simply been trained to follow commands and replicate pre-taught movements with a brush. Watch the video again closely and one can see the trainer physically directing the elephant what movements to make. The elephant is thus acting out a perceptual command, as opposed to creatively conceptualising (and understanding) what it paints.
